At Cabaret "Everyone is a Regular!"

Cabaret Sports Bar & Grille was founded in October 2012 by Andy Martin.  In 2014 Andy brought on US Navy Veteran Will Grimes as General Manager, then in 2019 as Minority Owner and Managing Partner and in 2022, Will formed Irish Knuckleheads LLC and purchased Cabaret.  He then brought on Minority Partners Josh Murphy and Bill Grimes.  Josh is a Senior Executive with Community State Bank and Owner of Murph’s Creamy in Tama, IA and Bill Grimes, his father, is a retired US Army Officer and former Owner of Career Management Associates a National US Federal Government Contracting company which he sold in 2022 and retired.

Together Will, Josh and Bill have over 50 years of executive level business acumen and over 30 years of restaurant/bar experience.  More important though than the experience is their desire to make Ankeny the greatest city in the State of Iowa and offer a place where anyone in the community can come to gather.

Over the past 12 years Cabaret has established a tradition and reputation as a place to meet friends, to eat generous all-time American food classics, enjoy an expansive selection of finely crafted cocktails and brews, and watch sporting and entertainment events.  It has has won several awards for Best Sports Bar, Best Karaoke Bar and Best Wings over the years.

Cabaret offers 14 TV’s inside, 5 TV’s on the patio, access to multiple platforms/services (Sunday NFL Ticket, MLB League Pass, B1G, SEC, ESPN and more), Bingo (Every Tuesday), Trivia (Every Wednesday), Karaoke (Every Thursday) and Live Entertainment (Every Friday & Saturday) Cabaret is a one stop shop for Dining, Drinking, Sporting and Entertainment services.

“Everyone is a Regular” is Will’s favorite quote and is our company motto.  Based off the foundation of Will's extensive service industry experience and based off his personal code of hospitality service, Will truly believes that no matter if it’s your first time in Cab, or you are that regular who comes in just about every day, you deserve to be served in a personal, professional, and exceptional way equally!

Cabaret is open 365 days a year for lunch, dinner & late night (one of the few restaurants in Ankeny that offer food options until close everyday) with delivery available through Toast Delivery, Delivery.com, DoorDash, GrubHub and UberEats. While we have gotten some grief over the years for being open on holidays, our patrons understand that we are not open on those days because of the almighty dollar, but rather early on Will and his wife of 20+ years Melissa saw a need for a place where singles, divorcees, families and anyone that needs a place during those times have a community place they can gather.  From 2015 until 2020 Will manned the bar and Melissa the kitchen to ensure this happened and only stopped because Will could no longer physically do it.  Today, Cabaret Staff fight over the opportunity to serve those days because they understand how much it means to the community.
